Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)
OBD2 Technical>DTC Info
Diagnostic Trouble Codes are an alphanumeric code indicating a specific fault. Although some
codes are specified by the OBDII standard, manufacturers are free to substitute more specific codes.
DTC's are 5 characters arranged as follows:
The following table describes each of the four fields of the example code P0123:

'P' | System | Valid characters: PCBU | P - powertrain, C - chassis, B - body, U - network |
'0' | Class | Valid characters: 0-3 | 0 is standard (generic) code, 1 is manufacturer specific, 2,3 vary by main system |
'1' | Sub-system | Valid characters: 0-9,A-F | |
'23' | Fault | Valid characters: 0-9,A-F | last two digits describe individual fault |
