wOBD v1.03 Check Engine Documentation
Last updated 12/6/03

Summary   Menu Items   Field Descriptions

Summary

The check engine screen checks for any OBD2 generic diagnostic codes, the status of the MIL (Service Engine Soon) lamp, and displays the status of continuous and non-continuous tests gained from functional mode-1 pid-1. If diagnostic codes are present, the option button to clear the codes is activated.

Continuous and non-continuous test These tests store the results of OBD2 monitoring systems. Continuous tests refer to monitoring systems that are working anytime the engine is running. Other tests that are valid only under certain operating conditions are referred to as non-continuous tests. An example is the Oxygen Sensor Test, valid only when the vehicle has completed it's warm-up cycle and the engine is up to a minumum temperature.
